Although the geopolitical situation provided safe-haven buying support for gold earlier, gold prices once rose to a one-week high of $2,666.70 per ounce. However, as the US dollar rebounded to a ten-week high, gold prices gave up their gains and closed slightly lower at $2,648.49 per ounce.
